What happens when Taiwanese tea meets Taiwanese art?
For our Twin Oolong Collection, Mio Tea partnered with Taiwanese illustrator 高義鑫 (Eason Ko), bringing three of his existing artworks together with two of our oolong teas: Jade Oolong and Lychee Kiss Oolong.
Together, the collection brings Taiwanese tea and illustration into one experience, with each artwork carrying its own story of love, hope and happiness.
Meet Eason Ko
高義鑫 (Eason Ko) is a Taiwanese illustrator and visual artist known for his colourful, imaginative approach to storytelling.
He studied Art and Design at National Dong Hwa University in Taiwan before completing an MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art in the UK. His work has received international recognition, including awards and selections from the JIA International Illustration Award and 3x3 International Illustration Show.
Like Mio Tea, Eason also connects to sharing Taiwan beyond the island.
“I studied and worked overseas as an artist, while Mio Tea is a Taiwanese tea brand operating abroad. In a way, we're both using our own expertise to share our home with people in different fields.”
That shared perspective became an unexpected meeting point between tea and art.
Three Artworks, Three Stories
Rather than commissioning new illustrations for the collection, Mio Tea licensed three existing works by Eason, each with a story that takes on new meaning when paired with tea.
The Cycle of Love (愛的循環)
Featured on the outer box, The Cycle of Love was inspired by Eason's everyday life with his partner and the idea that love can bring peace and hope into our lives.
Look closely at the packaging and you'll notice that the people, clouds and animals form a continuous circle through their bodies and gazes.
As Eason explains, the piece expresses a hope that love and peace can continue to circulate and embrace everyone.
It's an idea that feels especially fitting for tea: something we make for ourselves, pour for others and share around a table.
Jade Oolong × The One Who Catches the Light (捉住光的人)
Jade Oolong is paired with The One Who Catches the Light, a work Eason created while studying abroad.
At a time when his own future felt uncertain, the piece represented his hope of being able to catch a ray of light and move forward courageously.
Its sense of optimism pairs naturally with the light, fresh character of Jade Oolong, with its floral notes of gardenia and orchid and subtle tropical fruit character.
Lychee Kiss Oolong. × Happy Tune (快樂曲)
Lychee Kiss Oolong is paired with Happy Tune, created after Eason began working as a full-time artist.
As daily life started to feel repetitive, he created the piece as a reminder to himself: don't forget to stay happy.
It's a simple message, but one that feels right at home with tea. Even on the busiest days, brewing a cup can be a small reason to slow down and enjoy the moment.
